       Club Day – thanks

Thanks to JP, John, Gerald, Colleen and Mark particularly for a successful Club Day and for everyone who came down to take part in the sports events and then partake of the excellent value grub. The format of turn up, take part in the sports worked well and will be used again. The Last of the Summer Wine event showed the excellent vintage and that there is more to some committee members than meets the eye; legends are built on such achievements!

GREAT NEW VENTURE: August 2010

EVOLUTION SPORTS RUGBY CAMPS COME TO CASTLEFORD RUFC

On 25, 25 and 27 August 2010 Evolution Sports Camps are having a Rugby Sports Camp at our club. This is an exciting new venture for us to complement but go beyond our own summer training evenings. The Rugby Camp is open to 8 to 16 year olds.

The camps last from 8.30 to 4.30 each day and the price for one day is £18 but discounted to £45 if booked for the whole 3 days; there are further discounts available on application. They are run by our very own Stuart Proud’s company and they are excellent value; they will involve coaching to fit the level/age of the participants and all will receive a target orientated plan for the future plus a T-shirt and certificate.

There is a link to a poster providing more details: Evolution Sports Rugby Camp. Alternatively, contact Stuart on 07915092542

For more information on this exciting event please see the poster by following this link: Coaching Conference.

Castleford RUFC appearance IN RFU DVD RESOURCE

We feature heavily in the RFU  DVD on volunteering. It is available for all to see and we will try some of the tips/ materials to see what can work at our club; new ideas or different ways of looking at matters can only help. The DVD does give a good impression of the club and certainly the CLUB TO JOIN.

Members DIRECTORY: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We would like to give all club members the opportunity to advertise whatever services/business they are in by having a club directory. All we’d like are your name, the business that you are in/the service that you’d like to offer, contact details (phone/email) and we’ll put  a separate page on this website. Hopefully members or their families can then utilise this facility and more business for members themselves should follow.

There will be no charge for this facility so what have you got to lose.

Please let’s give it a try and if details can be emailed to Castleford RUFC Members Directory then we can start compiling the data and put the details on the webpage.

Recruitment drive AND THIS IS RUGBY: CORE VALUES

This season has seen an influx of new players into the senior teams and this has brought new blood into the club to excellent effect. There is a pride in playing for the club and this shows in performances. We will be trying to capitalise upon this in a new publicity and recruitment drive to try to recruit more junior players, especially girls. Please can all associated with the club help to spread the message that we are looking for new players throughout the club; after all our headline messages are JOIN OUR TEAM and we are THE CLUB TO JOIN.

As part of the RFU’s “This is Rugby” campaign  which is designed to promote the Core Values in the game we will be distributing pocket cards as part of our own promotion work.

The Core Values are:

¨ Teamwork: essential to the sport and encompassing our view that Rugby is a game for all shapes and sizes and that all are welcome and play a part in on and off the field.

¨ Respect: forms the basis of our sport.

¨ Enjoyment: is the reason why we play and is the ethos we encourage at our club.

¨ Discipline: this underpins our sport.

¨ Sportsmanship: is the foundation upon which our sport is built

There is also a short DVD which goes with the cards and contains interviews with some past and present players when they emphasise the positive aspect of these values. This DVD can be made available for anyone to view and use to help promote our club in any way.
